Bay Area Ridge Trail
First dedicated in 1989, the Bay Area Ridge Trail is a planned 550-mile (over 365 miles complete) multi-use trail encircling the mountain ridgelines of the San Francisco Bay Area. My goal is to section-hike the entire loop around the bay with day hikes and short overnight trips. Follow my progress as I complete each section.
My first mini thru-hike! I spent three days hiking 41.4 miles through Castle Rock and Big Basin Redwoods State Parks to the Pacific Ocean. This short trip will always be a favorite of mine and is one of the reasons I fell in love with long-distance hiking. Read my blog post for budget gear that I tried, what worked, what didn't, and what I remember most about this beautiful trail.
